Refractive Lens Implant

Refractive Lens ImplantRefractive lens implant (RLI) surgery can correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism or presbyopia (the need for a bifocal or reading glasses) using Advanced Technology Intraocular Lens Implants (IOLs). These lenses are excellent options for patients over the age of 42 who are looking to reduce their dependence on distance and reading glasses.

Laser Precision

The procedure is exactly the same as the most commonly performed surgery today, cataract surgery. The eye is anesthetized to ensure comfort during the procedure. With the precision of the LenSx femtosecond laser, the surgeon creates a tiny incision along the corneal edge. The same laser is also used to treat your astigmatism and begin the process of removing the natural lens inside your eye. The LenSx laser adds safety and accuracy to your procedure, allowing your physician to create a treatment plan specific to the shape of your eye. The natural lens is then replaced with an IOL, which gently unfolds inside the eye. The self-sealing tiny incision ensures that no sutures are needed. In order to better meet the needs of our patients, we offer various types of IOLs to fit your lifestyle.

Who can Benefit?

If you are over 45 years old and are tired of bifocals, you may be a candidate for RLI surgery. The IOL that is best for you depends on the unique characteristics of your eye and your lifestyle needs. Our experienced staff is happy to discuss your options in a FREE consultation.
