New Technology Lenses
Hauser-Ross is happy to announce New Technology Lens Implants! These lens implants offer the latest advancements in cataract treatment and as an alternative to LASIK. We are now offering:
- Crystalens – This new technology IOL is available in 2 models, the Crystalens 5.0 lens and the Crystalens HD lens. Both of these IOLs have one visual zone and focus similarly to the natural lens of the eye. They “flex” to give patients their best vision far away and at intermediate distances (i.e. driving, computer and piano). The Crystalens IOLs also give patients reasonable vision for reading and close work. The HD lens has shown 1 line of improved near vision and slightly improved intermediate vision over the 5.0 lens. Only 4% of patients note nighttime glare and halos with either Crystalens model.
- ReStor – The ReStor IOL is also available in 2 models, the 4.0 version and the 3.0 version. Both of these new technology lenses use multiple visual zones blended together to reduce patient's dependence on glasses. The 4.0 ReStor gives patients their best vision up close and far away (i.e. reading, knitting and driving) while providing adequate vision for the computer or work at arms length. The 3.0 ReStor provides patients with improved vision at the intermediate distance (i.e. computer distance) and good vision up close for their near tasks. With the 3.0 lens, patient's distance vision is comparable to that of the 4.0 lens. Approximately 27% of patients experience some glare and/or halos with either ReStor lens.
- Tecnis Multi-focal – This new technology IOL offers patients good quality of vision in more lighting conditions. Due to the uniquely designed visual zones of the Tecnis Multi-focal IOL, 84% of patients are free from glasses. These patients enjoy their best uncorrected vision at distance and at near, i.e. driving and reading. Vision is also good at the intermediate distance, such as working at a computer or reading piano music. Studies show that 24% of patients with this IOL experience some glare or halos at night.
- Acrysof TORIC – The special design of this new technology lens corrects higher amounts of astigmatism so one sees clearly at distance. Glasses will be needed for reading and close work.
